Israelite Market

WHY ARE WE CLOSED TODAY?

At Israelite Market, we honor and observe the Sabbath Day as commanded by the Most High God. The Sabbath is not a tradition of man, but a holy appointment established by God Himself, set apart as a perpetual sign between Him and His people.

The Sabbath Was Established by God at Creation
Genesis 2:2–3
“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work… And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.”
The Sabbath was sanctified from the very beginning—before nations, laws, or commerce. God rested, blessed, and made the seventh day holy, setting the example for His people to follow.

The Sabbath Is a Commandment
Exodus 20:8–11
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy… In it thou shalt not do any work.”
The Sabbath is not optional. We are commanded to cease from labor, dedicating the day to rest and reverence. Because operating a business involves work, fulfillment, transactions, and logistics, we close our store to remain obedient to this command.

A Perpetual Covenant and Sign
Exodus 31:16–17
“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath… for a perpetual covenant… for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested.”
Observing the Sabbath is a sign of faithfulness and obedience. By closing our store, we publicly honor this covenant and acknowledge God as Creator and Provider.

No Buying or Selling on the Sabbath
Nehemiah 10:31
“And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath…”
Scripture clearly instructs God’s people to refrain from buying and selling on the Sabbath. For this reason, we pause all transactions, payments, and order processing during this holy time.

No Cooking, Kindling Fire, or Labor
Exodus 35:3
“Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.”

☝🏽This command reinforces the principle of rest and preparation. Cooking, production, and other labor-intensive activities are avoided so the Sabbath remains free from work. All necessary preparations are completed beforehand.

No Working or Commercial Activity
Operating a business—including customer service, order fulfillment, packaging, shipping, and administration—is considered work. In obedience to God’s command to rest, all business operations are suspended during the Sabbath hours.

A Time for Worship and Restoration
The Sabbath is a day set apart for worship, reflection, family, and spiritual renewal. By closing our store, we prioritize honoring God above profit and trusting Him to provide.

When We Reopen (Sunday Dawn)
Our store will resume normal operations after the Sabbath concludes. Orders placed before or after the Sabbath will be processed promptly during business days.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we strive to walk in obedience to the commandments of the Most High.
Shalom & Blessings,
Israelite Market
